Dr.Kamal Al-Ganzori, appoints Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Ali, Professor of Archaeology of Ain Shams University, as Minister of State for Antiquities.

Field Marshall Muhammad Hussein Tantawi declared in act No. 282 of 2011, issued on Decmber 2011, the formation of a new Cabinet led by Dr.Kamal Al-Ganzori, who re-established the Ministry of State for Antiquities and appointed Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Ali, Professor of Archaeology of Ain Shams University, as Minister of State for Antiquities.

Since the 25th of January of this year, the antiquities administration has gone through a number of stages; at the onset of the popular revolt it was the Supreme Council of Antiquities which answered to the Ministry of Culture. In February it became the Ministry of State for Antiquities and remained so for four months, until popular protests led to the dissolution of the Ministry and a return to the Supreme Council of Antiquities, this time answering directly to the Prime Minister’s Office. Finally, with the new Government, the Supreme Council of Antiquities is under the command of the newly re-formed Ministry of State for Antiquities.
